DESCRIPTION:Empty Bowls is a grassroots effort led by Options in partnership with the Josephine County Food Bank that includes artists and restaurants in our community. This event raises funds to feed the hungry and people experiencing food insecurity in our community. \n\n\n\nThe basic premise of Empty Bowls (an international event) is simple: Potters and other craftspeople\, educators\, and community members work with the community to create handcrafted bowls. \n\n\n\nAttendees have the pleasure of selecting a bowl from hundreds of one-of-a-kind hand-crafted bowls donated by local area artists. Guests are invited to a meal of soup and bread. In exchange for a $40 (ticket bought in advance) donation\, guests are invited to keep a bowl of their choosing as a reminder of all the empty bowls in our community. \n\n\n\nVisit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/emptybowlsjoco to keep updated on our event.

SUMMARY:Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive
DESCRIPTION:Since 1993\, the Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive has been the U.S.’s largest 1-day drive\, held annually on the 2nd Saturday in May! Help us make this year another success for our neighbors in need.  \n\n\n\nEvery second Saturday in May\, letter carriers in more than 10\,000 cities and towns across America collect the goodness and compassion of their postal customers\, who participate in the NALC Stamp Out Hunger National Food Drive — the largest one-day food drive in the nation. \n\n\n\nLed by letter carriers represented by the National Association of Letter Carriers (AFL-CIO)\, with help from rural letter carriers\, other postal employees and other volunteers\, the drive has delivered more than 1.82 billion pounds of food the past 30 years. \n\n\n\nCarriers will collect non-perishable food donations left by mailboxes and in post offices and deliver them to the Josephine County Food Bank.  \n\n\n\nTo donate\, just place a box or can of non-perishable food next to your mailbox before your letter carrier delivers mail on the second Saturday in May. The carrier will do the rest. The food is sorted\, and delivered to the Josephine County Food Bank\, where it is available for needy families. If you are unable to donate pantry items\, financial donations are more than appreciated.
